According to the Irish Independent newspaper, one of the notorious feuding gangs of Limerick city, in the south of Ireland, has laid out more than 100,000 Euros (about $140,000) for a BMW that can withstand bomb blasts and fend off AK47 or MI6 rifle bullets.
Earlier this week, says the Independent, young members of the Dundon-McCarthy gang equipped the BMW with a public address system and drove it around Limerick prison, taunting members of a rival gang incarcerated inside.
The 2006 BMW has a powerful 4.5 L engine and is fitted with 1-inch bulletproof glass, as well as special materials, similar to those used in bulletproof vests, that allow it to withstand small bomb blasts.
Gangs in Limerick have been feuding for years but tensions have been rising in recent weeks, says the Independent.
