Part of the Grand Army of the Republic Highway, this drive takes about five hours. Leave the town of Wellsboro and drive west 12 miles to Ansonia. A left on Colton Road leads to Pine Creek Gorge, the Grand Canyon of Pennsylvania, and to Colton Point State Park. The park offers views of the 830-foot deep gorge.
Back on Route 6, follow Pine Creek through the town of Galeton to the Pennsylvania Lumber Museum. Follow the Allegheny River for about 35 miles to the town of Smithport, where you pick up Marvin Creek. As you head toward Mount Jewett, a turnoff leads you to the 301-foot-high Kinzua Viaduct. This was the highest railroad viaduct in the world in 1882. Next, you will enter the 250,000-acre Allegheny National Forest. Here you can see part of the 3,200-mile North Country National Scenic Trail, which is being built from New York to North Dakota. The drive ends as you enter the town of Warren. This is a gorgeous drive with lots of wildlife and great fishing.
