Back in July, Navigon announced the launch of a North American version of its on-board navigation software for the Apple iPhone. Today , it announced a new and useful update to the software route planning features and a neat addition that enables Points of Interest such as restaurants and hotels to be called by clicking on the phone number on the POI screen. The number can also be added to the iPhones contact list if desired.
Navigon was the first major navigation company to launch on on-board navigation solution for the iPhone in North America. MobileNavigator transforms any iPhone 3G device equipped with the Apple OS 3.0 operating system, or any iPhone 3G S into a complete navigation device.
The software includes many of NAVIGON's hallmark navigation functions such as Reality View Pro, Lane Assistant Pro, Speed Assistant and Day & Night Mode.
Reality View Pro displays realistic images of Motorway junctions and exits generated by the device itself. The 3D-type display of lanes and even signpost displays makes it easier to navigate complex highway intersections.
Features such as Lane Assistant Pro and Speed assistant help with lane choice in complex intersection situations and awareness of speed limits and vehicle speed.
Navigon sells for U.S. $99.99 and comes with North American maps from Navteq. It is available for the promotional price of $69.99 until August 31.
Current users of NAVIGON MobileNavigator will be notified by email about the new iPhone app. New customers who buy it from the Apple App store will get the most updated version automatically.
