Thanks for the comment. While Intel’s headquarters are in California Intel has always heavily invested in Europe and sees itself with a valuable role to play in supporting the Digital Europe vision. Intel has operated high-end manufacturing within the EU for >20 years, and in addition today there is a significant Intel research and development (R&D) conducted within the EU. There are more than 4000 Intel Microprocessor Production jobs along with a huge R&D network called Intel Labs Europe (ILE). ILE consists of 22 labs employing more than 1000 R&D professionals across Europe. These activities result in collaborations with EU universities and the EU industry. Examples of these collaborations are Intel and Nokia Joint Innovation Center in Oulu, Intel Visual Computing Institute (Intel VCI) in collaboration with Saarland University, Exascale Computing Research Center in Paris â a joint establishment of Intel, Commissariat à l’Ãnergie Atomique, Grand Equipement National de Calcul Intensif and Université de Versailles Saint-Quentin-en-Yvelines, ExaScience Lab in Flanders â a result of our cooperation with imec, the Flemish Agency for Innovation by Science and Technology (IWT) and 5 Flemish universities University of Antwerp, Ghent University, Hasselt University, Katholieke Universiteit Leuven and Vrije Universiteit Brussel to name several. These collaborations come along with large investments into the EU: $12 million investment in Intel Visual Computing Institute, Multi-Million Euro Investment in European Exascale Computing Research Center etc. Some of the most recent successes from ILE are the SCC for example which represents a deep EU influence in Intel’s future product roadmap.
