Translation is one functional characteristic that comes in very handy when we face a language barrier while communicating with others. There are several translator apps available at the Google Play store. The only problem with these apps is they do not provide the translation feature across the apps, meaning you have to copy the text that you want to translate into that app and then select the language in which you want the selected text to be translated.
While this does the job, it can be quite a slow and tedious way to translate. If you want the ability to translate text into different languages without switching between apps, Google Translate has made this process much more straightforward.
Google Translate app makes translation easy within apps
The Google Translate app allows you to translate text in third-party apps without actually having to open Google Translate. You can convert text in apps like WhatsApp, TripAdvisor, LinkedIn and many other apps without launching Google Translate. With Google Translate on your phone, you have access to the translation feature for 52 languages in addition to the Word Lens feature which has access to 29 languages (including Chinese). Word Lens uses the built-in camera feature of your smartphone or tablet to read and translate text in real time.
The process of translation is quite easy: just select the text you want to translate. It will show you an option box with Copy, Share and Translate options. Tapping the Translate option will open a new dialog box that shows the translation in the user’s preferred language.
The Translate app automatically detects the language of the text that you want to translate. This feature will be quite helpful while chatting with other people who don’t know your language.
The Google Translate app will also be helpful to travelers and people who use Google Translate to communicate with people around the world. For example, travelers can now open the TripAdvisor app and look for local reviews written in foreign languages. They need not switch to a different app as they can see the translation of the review in their preferred language in the app itself.
The Google Translate app can be downloaded from the Play Store or iTunes and there is an offline mode for those travelling without the luxury of a data package!
