One criticism attached to Microsoft’s web browser, Internet Explorer (IE for short), was that it did not update itself in the background, like all other popular web browsers. This, in turn, affected the performance of the PC.
Finally, some good news has come from Microsoft in this regard: IE 10 now updates itself in the background.
With the talk being on web browser, it would be appropriate to include safe Internet practices in the discussion. You don’t need to be told that malware infection is a serious security threat, but did you know that you can minimize the chances of malware infection by following certain safe Internet practices?
How you surf the web can determine whether your PC becomes infected or not. Some safe Internet practices that you would do well to follow include, but are not limited to, the following:
- Don’t open email attachments without scanning them with an advanced antivirus tool
- Stay away from websites with dubious content
- Avoid downloading freeware, and, if you must, scan the downloaded file before running it
- Stay away from peer to peer sharing sites. Such sites are usually havens for malware programs.
