When you turn on the Xbox console, either of the following errors crops up:

E106 or E106 xxxxxxxx xxxxxxxx

This is what is referred as Xbox Error E106. This error is not as common as, let’s say, the error code “8007-0570”, “351f-0000”, or “80151103”. All the same, it can be just as frustrating and disruptive. But don’t worry because we’ve got you covered.

Solution 1 – Clear the system cache

Turn off the Xbox and unplug it. Keep the device unplugged for 60 seconds or so to ensure the cache is flushed out of the memory. Next, use the Clear System Cache function by following these steps:

• Press the Guide button on Xbox controller
• Click the Settings tab
• Select System Settings and then click Select Storage
• Choose any storage device that’s listed here and then press Y
• Click the Yes button when the Xbox OS prompts you for a confirmation

Solution 2 – Reset the console

• Press the Xbox button and then click Profile & system | Settings | System | Console info
• Choose Reset Console
• Three options will come up on the next screen: Reset and remove everything, reset and keep my games & apps, and cancel. For troubleshooting, select the second option, reset and keep my games & apps. When you select this option, the XBOX OS will be reset to its factory settings and potentially corrupted files will be deleted. But the troubleshooter will not delete your apps or games

If the reset works, the Xbox console will function properly after it restarts.
