Compact and sleek design and a host of useful features have made the Canon LiDE 110 scanner immensely popular among users looking for a full-color image scanner. The scanner can easily produce scanned images of up to 2400×4800 optical DPI. That said, some users have complained the scanner of creating black scans — and that too of very poor quality.
Are you facing this issue as well? Don’t worry. You can resolve it on your own.
In this guide, we will show you how to fix the black scan issue in LiDE 110 scanner for good.
Remove Scan Driver and Software and then Reinstall it
One of the reasons why users get pretty frustrated when they see this error is because this issue isn’t listed separately in the Cannon Troubleshooting Guide. Anyway, this guide is all you need to resolve this issue.
In case of poor scan quality, uninstalling the software drivers and then reinstalling them may do the trick. So, let’s first see what you need to do to remove the Cannon scan driver.
Uninstalling Scan Driver Software
Cannon uses TWAIN-complaint drivers which work with its LiDE 110 scanner. Like other modern scanners, LiDE 110 scanner doesn’t offer standalone driver software. Instead, it comes with improved functionalities which add new features. CanoScan software includes all the necessary software besides the driver. For this reason, updating the device driver from Device Manger is not sufficient. You must uninstall the software and then reinstall its latest version from Canon.
Here are the required steps:
- Open Control Panel
- Click Programs and Features in the Control Panel window
- Now you will be able to see all the installed programs and software, so browse through the list until you see CanoScan LiDE 110 scanner driver application.
- Now right-click on this application and click Uninstall
- Click the Execute button to uninstall the software. Doing so will remove the driver software automatically
- Click the Yes button in the next window to start the uninstallation process
- Wait till all driver software is removed
- Click the Complete button to successfully remove the software
- Restart Windows after the uninstallation process is complete (even if Windows doesn’t prompt you to restart)
Reinstalling CanoScan Software
After you have restart Windows, launch your web browser and go to the Canon official website and download the latest version for your operating system. Once you have downloaded the latest version of CanoScan application, open the folder in which you have saved the file and double-click it to launch the installation process. Follow the on-screen prompts.
Now connect the scanner using the USB cable to complete the installation process. Next, register your scanner with your PC. Now when you scan, you will not face the black scan issue.
