This error is related to the GEARAspiWDM process that is not important for your Windows OS.
The GEARAspiWDM process is related to software like iTunes. If you have iTunes installed, you need to download and install the latest version of GEAR Drivers. However, if you do not have iTunes installed, you need to make some changes to the registry to solve this problem. Please note that making changes to the Registry of your computer is not for the faint-hearted and you should be confident in what you are doing before attempting this. - At Run dialog box -> Type regedit
- Navigate to following key – HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINESYSTEMCurrentControlSetControlClass{4D36E965-E325-11CE-BFC1-08002BE10318}
- Look for UpperFilters and LowerFilters in the right pane of the registry
- Double click on UpperFilters and remove GEARAspiWDM under Value data.
- Repeat the above step for LowerFilters.
Solution for – “Windows cannot start this hardware device because its configuration information (in the registry) is incomplete or damaged. (Code 19)” error
If your system is displaying this error, more often than not, you will find the DVD drive absent in the File Explorer window.
When looking in the Device Manager, you will see a Yellow Exclamation mark near the DVD disk drive entry. There can be several reasons for this error such as a recent upgrade of Windows OS, installation or removal of any DVD program, or removal of the Microsoft Digital Image program.
There are also several ways to resolve this issue. If you are using Windows 7, Windows 8, or Windows 8.1 operating system, use the Hardware and Devices Troubleshooter and follow the on-screen instructions to resolve the issue. The problem can also be resolved by a minor registry edit. If you are using Windows Vista or Windows XP, then registry edit is the best option to resolve the issue. Again, exercise caution whenever editing the Registry.
- In Run dialog box, type regedit
- Navigate to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINESYSTEMCurrentControlSetControlClass{4D36E965-E325-11CE-BFC1-08002BE10318}
- Locate UpperFilters in the right side pane- > Right-click on it and click on Delete
- If you do not find UpperFilters, look for LowerFilters entry in the same registry subkey. (Note: you are required to delete LowerFilters even after deleting UpperFilters entry)
- Locate LowerFilters in the right side pane – Right-click on it and click on Delete
Solution for- “Windows successfully loaded the device driver for this hardware but cannot find the hardware device. (Code 41)” error.
If your system is displaying this error, it generally means that the drivers of the device need to be updated or reinstalled. To resolve this issue, follow the steps below. If you prefer, you can use a driver update tool to automate this process for you:
- In Run dialog box, type “devmgmt.msc” which opens the Device Manager
- Go to DVD/CD-ROM drives and expand it.
- Right-click on CD/DVD Devices and click on Uninstall
- Confirm your selection by selecting OK when prompted by System
- Restart the system.
(Note: You do not need to manually reinstall the drivers; the OS will automatically load drivers for the device)
