LG GH24NSB0 DVD Writer is contained inside the cabinet of your system. LG GH24NSB0 DVD errors can often be resolved quickly and easily and these solutions are set out in the post below.
Solution to Error: “Windows successfully loaded the device driver for this hardware but cannot find the hardware device. (Code 41)”
Common reasons for this problem include loose connections or missing/corrupt Software Drivers. Sometimes however, an update of your Operating System or the installation or removal of a DVD recording program can also be the cause.
When you see this error, the first thing you should do (if you feel confident to do so) is open the cabinet and check for any loose connections between your DVD writer and other system components (Power Supply Unit and SATA connection on your motherboard). Once you have confirmed the connecting wires are properly seated in their respective slots, perform the following steps.
Edit the Registry
Note: You should edit registry only if you are comfortable doing so and only after making a registry backup.
Follow the steps given below to edit the registry entry.
- Click on Start -> Run
- Type regedit to open Registry Editor
- Navigate to following registry key
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINESYSTEMCurrentControlSetControlClass{4D36E965-E325-11CE-BFC1-08002BE10318}
- In the right pane, Click on UpperFilters
(You should not attempt to modify or delete UpperFilter.bak registry entry)
- Right-click on the registry entry and select Delete
- Repeat the procedure for LowerFilters
- Restart the System
Uninstall and reinstall the DVD Writer
If the error persists, try uninstalling and reinstalling your DVD writer.
- Click Start and go to Control Panel
- Click System and Security
- Click Device Manager
- Click “+” sign in CD/DVD ROM drives to view the DVD writer.
- If the problem is related to Software Drivers, you will see an exclamation mark besides LG DVD Writer entry.
- Right-click the LG DVD Writer entry and select Uninstall.
- Click Ok to confirm removal of device
- Restart the system
- After restarting your system, Windows will detect your LG DVD Writer and recommend installing Drivers for the device.
- Insert the Driver CD that was provided with the device and let Windows install the driver from the CD.
Note: If you do not have the driver CD, click here to download a driver update tool.
