Lexmark 2400 printer problems are generally related to printer hardware or printer spooler service. However, sometimes the problems may be also related to Lexmark 2400 Drivers or Software. Here are some common Lexmark 2400 Printer errors and solutions.
Solution to Error: “Problem communicating with the printer”
Loose cables is the main reason for this printer communication error. The computer cannot see the Printer as they are literally not connected. To resolve this error, check the connecting cables and power cord of the Lexmark 2400 to ensure the printer is receiving power supply and properly connected to your system. Once you ensure there is no problem with the connection or power supply, you can move on to other diagnostic methods. The diagnostic methods will depend on the type of connection between your printer and computer.
- Click on Start->Control Panel
- Click on Printers
- Right-click on Lexmark object -> Properties
- Click on Details Tab
- Under the ”Print to following port” If you have used parallel cable, it should say LPT1, If you have used USB cable, it should say USB Lexmark or USB00x
If you find any mismatched value in the list, select the correct type of connection. If you do not see any value such as LPT1 or USB Lexmark, it may indicate missing or corrupt Lexmark Printer Drivers. To resolve the issue, reinstall the Lexmark 2400 Drivers from the CD provided with the device. If you do not have the CD and want to use our Driver Update Tool for Lexmark Printers, click here and select the ‘download’ link (this will enable you to run a FREE Drivers Scan to confirm that this is the problem).
Solution to “Error Writing to LPT1: System Cannot Find File Specified”
The Windows system generates this error when the Parallel.sys Driver is not started. There can be other reasons for this error such as parallel device is disabled or NTDETECT is unable to locate any parallel port on the system. To resolve this issue, go to the Device Manager and under Ports (COM & LPT), check whether Printer Port (LPT1) is disabled. Enable the port if it is disabled.
Solution to error – “Printer not ready”
If you are seeing this error, it means your system is not able to communicate with your Lexmark 2400 Printer. There can be several reasons for this error such as the connecting port has gone bad or the Lexmark 2400 Drivers are missing or corrupt. The solution to this issue is checking whether there is problem with the port. Follow these steps to check the cause of the issue
- Go to Start->Control-Panel-System
- Click on Hardware – > Device Manager
- Under Ports(COM & LPT), check whether Printer Port (LPT1) has any signs of conflict such as a Red Cross or Yellow exclamation mark
- If so, reinstall Lexmark 2400 Drivers again and restart the computer.
Note: If you have used the USB mode of connection, it is necessary that you use USB ports that have direct connectivity with the motherboard components. Do not use front USB ports in your desktop for connecting your printer.
Most of the Lexmark 2400 errors discussed above are related to connection between your printer and system. Drivers play an important role in communicating with your printer and system, and hence it is necessary to keep your Lexmark 2400 Drivers updated.

have lexmark 2400 but laptop cant recognize it – need help!?
DriversExpert says
this may be a laptop-printer communication issue. Have you checked the cables/ connections? If there is no connection problem, check the ‘print to port’ options (detailed in post above), if this is ok again, you should run a free drivers scan for lexmark printer drivers using the link in the article above
