About Graphics and Video Card Drivers:
Graphics and video Card Drivers serve as an interpreter between your Windows operating system and the Graphics and Video Card. In other words, these Drivers allow Windows to communicate with the Graphics and Video Card installed on your computer.

Meaning – The required driver is configured incorrectly or is missing.
Error 3 – The drivers for this device are not installed. (Code 28)
Meaning – The required driver is not installed on your computer.
Error 4 – This device cannot start. (Code 10)
Meaning – Usually, this error means that the required driver is outdated.
How do I fix Graphics and Video Card Driver problems?
Roll back to the previously installed Driver
Device Manager, an inbuilt utility in Windows, allows you to troubleshoot common driver-related errors. For instance, you may sometimes start experiencing driver related problems after you have updated it. To resolve the issue, you can roll back to a previously installed driver. To do this in Windows 7/Vista, perform the following steps:
- – Open the Control Panel window and double-click Device Manager
- – Double-click Display Adapters to view all devices under it
- – Double-click the device that is causing the problem
- – Click the Driver tab
- – Click the Roll Back Driver button and follow the onscreen instructions
Scan your computer using a Driver Update Tool
While Windows does provide an interface through which users can fix driver-related errors, the fact is that all driver-related issues cannot be resolved efficiently via Device Manager. Another fact is that resolving driver issues manually is a tedious affair. Also, you need to be proficient with Windows to carry out such a task.
On the other hand, driver management tools present no such problems. With just a click of the mouse, a driver management program scans your entire computer, identifies all installed hardware devices, and updates drivers for the identified devices.

Hi Alan – have you tried running the free scan at /download-drivers/ – this will at least tell you if the problem is driver-related.
If the problem persists, please provide us with more info on the OS, any recent updates etc.

hi. there is some sort of prob in my pc.
whenever i try to run any videos, ( using vlc media player and windows media player ) there is a black screen, also when i play games, it auutomatically shuts down and quits the game. i also use softwares for photo editing ( photoshop and adobe illustrator) .
they are also not working.

Hi Samar, can you get beyond the startup screen at all? If so run a free drives scan for graphics drivers using one of the download links above – it should tell you the exact drivers you need. If you cannot get beyond the initial screen you may need to perform a clean boot – this starts Windows by using the minimum of drivers and startup programs. Performing a clean boot will help check if any third party app is causing this issue with startup

where did you find what Driver to use? It may be out of date – use the download link in the article to run the drivers scan and it should tell you the exact drivers needed – you can then check if they are available from the manufacturer

driverhelper, mine is currently doing that (black screen shortly after rebooting). I was installing windows 8.1 updates, a large amount, and it was interrupted and now that seems to be the issue. I figured the graphics driver because I’ve tried to boot from both an USB iso and CD/DVD iso to run a repair and it still goes to the black screen after 10 seconds of the windows logo. I can get to BIOS and Setup, but that’s it.

I had trouble with a Win 7 PC where the screen would briefly black out, then I’d see a report on the bottom saying there had been a problem with the Intel graphics chip driver. Turned out to be bad hardware, namely bad capacitors on the motherboard.
