Another small step in the convergence of wireless communications and computing in mobile devices comes in the form of the new Garmin-Asus smartphone with the Windows Mobile operating system launched this past Wednesday.
The Nuvifone M20 has a 2.8-inch touchscreen and runs Microsoft Windows Mobile 6.1 Professional. It will be sold by Chunghwa Telecom, Taiwan's largest phone company. The smartphones are also being sold in Hong Kong and will soon launch in Malaysia, Singapore, and Thailand. They will be available in Europe later this year.
3.0-megapixel camera and 4GB of flash memory make it attractive to photographers and the Bluetooth 2.0 connectivity and 2G and 3G data speed combined with Wi-Fi 802.11b/g maek the M20 a formidable mobility tool.
Of special interest to drivers will be the capability for GPS-enabled location-based services navigation software from Garmin. ![]()
