Rent a car for $1 a day

CityFlitz, a Toronto, Canada-based company, is offering you a rental car for about $1 a day. They want you to drive it a lot (about 20 miles or 30 km per day) and they expect to make lots of money on the deal.

If the idea flies they should. Their fleet of Mini Coopers, Mini Clubman and Smartcar rental vehicles will be "wrapped" with advertising and the advertiser will be charged. At a dollar a day the CityFlitz cars will be "the cheapest form of transportation in the city" says CityFlitz President and CEO Andreas Kotal. Advertisers will pay rates ranging from $3,900 to $4,900 per month.

CityFlitz offers three options: a CityFlitz promotion team could drive the cars; advertisers could drive the cars; or the fleet can be rented out to the public who will drive a minimum number of kilometers within a prescribed area.

CityFlitz will also hand out samples at events, manage parking, and take care of insurance and gasoline.

Some regard CityFlitz as a competitor of auto sharing companies such as AutoShare and Zipcar, which have been growing rapidly in the Toronto area in the past couple of years. However, these companies don’t seem too worried at the prospect.

Kristina Kennedy, a spokesperson for the U.S.-based Zipcar, says her company has no plans to directly compete. "That's mobile advertising and we're a car-sharing service. I think they're two very different industries," she commented recently.End of Article

hey fellow drivers im from toronto and i found this its been really fun for me so thought id pass on the info. all the best if you qualify.

You must be 18 years or older, have a valid drivers license, and completely fill out an application(s). Some of the companies listed in our directory request a credit check, not all of them.

You must be a citizen or permanent resident of one of the following countries: the United States, Canada, the United Kingdom, France and Spain.

Selection depends upon considerations such as driving record, driving habits, location, etc. Most companies require a minimum driving mileage and a clean driving record (no violations within the past 12 months). TheFreeCar does not supply cars or employment and cannot guarantee your acceptance. We only guarantee the legitimacy of these programs and the application process.

If you have been convicted of a felony or driving under the influence of drugs or alcohol, or have had more than two serious moving violations in the last two years, we cannot guarantee that your application will be accepted.

Sounds like something we could use here in the Sault. The only catch is I would like to use it for teaching students how to drive, I would certainly be able to drive the required km. Please let me know if you ever consider expanding.
